Tuesday Preview: Colorado State, Rhode Island highlight the night

NCAA Basketball: Colorado State at Wyoming Troy Babbitt-USA TODAY Sports

It’s Tuesday and there’s basketball. Need we say more?

Here are the games, story lines and streaming/watching info to know:

Colorado State at New Mexico | 10:00 PM ET | CBS Sports Network

First place is on the line as a thin Colorado State team looks for its fifth-straight road win. Injuries have forced the Rams into a tight, seven-man rotation, but they’ve recovered from a 3-3 MWC start to draw even with Nevada and Boise State at 10-4. New Mexico won the first meeting on Jan. 14 in a game that saw Elijah Brown go wild (25 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists). Things also got wild after (and during) the game, with an altercation between CSU’s Emmanuel Omogbo and the UNM coaching staff outside the arena. It should be an interesting night at the Pit.

Rhode Island at La Salle | 6:00 PM ET | CBS Sports Network

Bubble-dwelling Rhode Island is living dangerously, especially after its loss (at home) to Fordham last week. The Rams can afford only so many more slip ups, and visit a La Salle team that beat them in January. The Explorers’ recent 2-6 slump coincided with Pookie Powell’s injury, but the point guard played well (13 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists) in his second game back against St. Joe’s last Saturday. URI will look for another big game out of Stanford Robinson, who scored a career-high 21 points in the Rams’ Saturday win at George Mason.

Other story lines to follow:

  • Wichita State has left a pile of embarrassed teams in its wake in MVC play. Evansville will likely be the next victim, unless Jaylon Brown does something monumental. (Evansville at Wichita State | 8:00 PM ET | ESPN3).
  • Here come the Bulls. They’re riding a six-game winning streak that had them in the “buy” column of our most recent stock watch. They host a Kent State team coming off an impressive win at rival Akron last Friday. (Kent State at Buffalo | 7:00 PM ET | ESPN3).
  • Speaking of Akron, can the Zips rebound from that loss with a late game at Bowling Green? The Falcons hung around in both teams’ conference opener in January. (Akron at Bowling Green | 9:00 PM ET | ESPN3).
  • Dayton’s league-best defense gets a test at home against Otis Livingston, Marquise Moore and the A-10’s third-most efficient offense (George Mason at Dayton | 7:00 PM ET | Facebook Live).
