The Missouri Valley Conference will continue to look a little different this upcoming season. MiKyle McIntosh, one of the stars for Illinois State, is expected to graduate and transfer for his final season of eligibility.
McIntosh was a staple on both ends of the floor for Illinois State. Although he missed five games this past season due to injury, he was the third best scorer on the team, averaging 12.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. With the top two leading scorers in Deontae Hawkins and Paris Lee graduating, McIntosh was expected to be the star of the Redbirds in his final season.
This past season he earned MVC Second Team honors, was named to the NABC District 16 Second Team, and earned conference Player of the Week once.
This now changes how the Redbirds will look this upcoming season. The Redbirds were assumed to be preseason favorites after Wichita State departed for the AAC last week, and came in at No. 8 in our way-too-early Power Rankings. Now, the Redbirds may no longer be favored to win and other teams in the MVC will have the opportunity to take the crown.
