NBA Draft 2017: Utah Jazz select Nigel Williams-Goss with 55th overall pick

NWG joins Zach Collins as the second Bulldog drafted this season.

Nigel Williams-Goss is Nigel Williams-Going to the Utah Jazz after being selected with the 55th overall in the second round. He is the second member of the national runner-up Bulldog squad to be drafted this season, along with one-and-done big man Zach Collins.

Goss was one of the leaders of this year’s squad and one of the best backcourt players in the country, averaging nearly 17 points and nearly 5 assists a game this season en route to All-American honors.

Despite not having the elite athleticism that the modern NBA fetishizes at the point guard position, Williams-Goss enters the NBA as a ready and willing scorer. His size, 6-foot-4 with a nearly 6-foot-8 wingspan, allows him to guard any backcourt slot. If his three-point shot continues to improve, there’s no reason why Williams-Goss can’t find himself a spot at the back end of an NBA bench.
