Report: Mitchell Robinson expected to return to Western Kentucky

The saga takes another turn.

Mitchell Robinson is expected to return to Western Kentucky, according to a report by WBKO’s Chad Bishop.

The McDonald’s All-American left the program briefly at the end of July, and many believed it to be for good. Robinson took visits to LSU, Kansas and New Orleans, and it was even reported that he would sit out the season and focus on preparing for the NBA Draft.

If Robinson does in fact return to Western Kentucky, he will be immediately eligible for this season. If he were to transfer somewhere else, he would have had to get a waiver from the NCAA to play this year, which was unlikely. Playing for the Hilltoppers this year was his best and only option to play in college this year.

There’s no denying Robinson’s talent and what he can bring to Rick Stansbury’s team, barring anymore unforeseen twists and turns in this saga. With Robinson manning the middle alongside a talented roster, Western Kentucky will be right in the middle of the Conference USA race.
