Rejoice! Real, non-exhibition college basketball games are on today! By this point, you’ve probably read plenty of thoughtful, well-researched articles (hopefully from this site!) that strive to predict how this season will pan out. Which is fine; there’s nothing wrong with being an informed college basketball fan.
But this post is the opposite. Absolutely no research, in-depth analysis, or hours of watching old game film went in to making these opinions you’re about to read.
Without further ado, here are some of our staff’s hottest takes. Did I add links to everyone’s Twitter handles so you can air out your grievances? Well, it’s hard to say.
Kyle Cajero: Loyola is going to miss the NCAA Tournament and the NIT.
Montana will go undefeated in Big Sky play...then miss the Big Dance on a Jerrick Harding buzzer-beater.
Savannah State will go dancing in its last Division 1 season.
Cam Newton: Lipscomb will have the best basketball team in Tennessee.
Ben Johnson: South Dakota State’s Mike Daum will be an AP All-American at season’s end.
Austin Montgomery: Pepperdine coach Lorenzo Romar will sign a top 300 recruit by the end of the season.
JP Proulx: A mid-major regular season champ will get an at-large bid over a mediocre Power-5 team.
Russ Steinberg: CUSA will get two bids with a third just missing the tournament field.
San Diego State will beat at least one ranked team in Maui.
Chris Schutte: A mid-major is going to be the last undefeated team in college basketball, but it won’t be Gonzaga or Nevada.
There will be four (4) multi-bid mid-major conferences.
Marshall will beat Virginia. Tony Bennett will be sent to prison.
