Furman set to host “The Office” night

Furman is cooler than your favorite team.

The Office

When you work in the athletic department of a mid-major school, sometimes you have to get creative to get fans in the seats. Furman appears to have come up with a great idea.

On Thursday night, Furman will host “The Office” night when Chattanooga comes to town.

First of all, this owns. The Office is one of the best sitcoms in the history of television, and I will fight anyone who disagrees with that statement.

Digging into the marketing ploy, there’s a lot to like here. Something as simple as letting people in with the names of popular characters will almost assuredly lead to some intrigue from fans that might not normally go to games. Look, if you’re named Jim, Pam, Michael, Dwight or Andy, why wouldn’t you want to check out a game for free?

It’s also funny as hell that they’d make anybody named Toby pay double. It’s fitting because Toby sucks.

The pretzel station is a nice touch. Look, if you wake up every morning in a bed that’s too small, drive your child to a school that’s too expensive, and then go to work to a job for which you get paid too little, this game is for you. Everybody likes pretzel day.

If you want to go to this game, let your friends know that you’ll catch them on the flippity-flip. Just hope that Furman plays better than some of the Office characters.

PS: If anybody from Furman wants to send me a shirt, that would be cool. Let’s build.
