Contrary to popular belief, sometimes it is best to tweet through it.
The University of Maryland-Baltimore County social media accounts had a wonderful night online during Friday night’s game against Virginia.
If anything, the general public should thank The Athletic’s Seth Davis for logging on first. Without his infamous “sharpie” tweet, perhaps this night of incredibly good tweets might not have happened.
Hi everyone, in case you didn't see, Seth Davis tweeted this one minute into the game pic.twitter.com/vDlrcOtJOn

Naturally, the UMBC Bookstore chimed in...
It's ok, we sell whiteout ;)

N.B: If you ever get dunked on by a university bookstore, you should log off forever.
The account then sent periodic updates to Seth throughout the night. Who knows? Maybe Seth needed a score update. Maybe he was too busy watching Syracuse-TCU.
Seth, it's 5-2 https://t.co/vQ4SeT6Roi

Instead of letting the close game — and plenty of new fans — get to their heads, the account also chided some of the haters.
We won 24 games and a conference title, it's not like we are a YMCA team, dude https://t.co/TNYHHdwNZy
— UMBC Athletics (@UMBCAthletics) March 17, 2018
Once again, we won 24 games and have a good defense, but we're just a commuter school, right? https://t.co/RwtvyA5ZvC

But the real fun started when the Jairus Lyles and K.J. Maura started cooking in the second half.

Virginia going on a run here like every said, we call time out to regroup and see if we can cut into their insurmountable 12 point lead that we have
— UMBC Athletics (@UMBCAthletics) March 17, 2018
It's v v loud in here, either cuz they just restocked the hot dogs or because we are up 45-29 with 11:39 to go
— UMBC Athletics (@UMBCAthletics) March 17, 2018
We're up 12 on Virginia with 4:07 left, but more importantly we heard their may be some cookies left in the media dining area, will report back soon

Their tweets (and their university’s basketball team too!) were so good that their website crashed:
This is beyond March. https://t.co/hRqMgaIjS8

Never log off, at UMBC Athletics. Don’t let fame, or the 14,000 new followers (and counting) change you.
Just havin fun, cuz that's all 16 seeds are supposed to do https://t.co/QdZfjNFFle
