Time to come clean: we were so overwhelmed with conference tournament stuff last night that we missed the greatest rivalry in the SWAC: Southern vs. Texas Southern.
By now we know that this is not something we should ignore, and those two teams reminded us of that. This here video enters our lives from WAFB reporter Jacques Doucet, who captured and tweeted out a hell of a moment during an altercation between Trayvon Reed (Texas Southern) and Mubashar Ali (Southern). Reed does not hold back:
HEATED! Texas Southern's Trayvon Reed strikes Southern's Mubashar Ali after an intense verbal exchange between the two. Both players were ejected from the game at the FG Clark Center. @WAFB @SouthernUsports @theswac pic.twitter.com/PTy0vsP3WG

UPDATE: We got another angle on this and you can see how this began a little clearer. Ali appears to head-butt Reed, which leads to the punch:
VIDEO: Tempers flaring tonight on the Bluff. (head butt)

Texas Southern's Trayvon Reed & Southern's Mubashar Ali both ejected after double flagrant fouls. #TexasSouthern holds off late surge by #Southern 90-88.@WBRZ pic.twitter.com/5vW6jgdbWM
As Doucet notes, both players were ejected. Watch the video, then tag yourself. I’m headphones man trying to restore order.

Texas Southern held on to win, 90-88, by the way.
