The Other Top 25: Conference leaders are on the rise

Vermont and UCSB have entered the fold

NCAA Basketball: Vermont at Kansas Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

NOTE: This week’s rankings take into account all games through Sunday. Results from games played on Monday will be included in next week’s poll.

Roughly three weeks into the conference season, leaders have begun to emerge. Wofford is 7-0 in the SoCon, Hofstra is 7-0 in the CAA, and Liberty is 6-0 in the ASUN. So it’s not a surprise that each of those schools is ranked in the top 15 of The Other Top 25 this week.

Wofford has even cracked the top 40 in KenPom and has beaten both UNC Greensboro and Furman during its current six-game winning streak. Though we love ourselves some Fletcher Magee, Cameron Jackson has been just as valuable for the Terriers, shooting 60 percent from the field and averaging 15-and-8.

A little lower in the poll, we welcome back Marshall, which is now 5-1 in CUSA and tied with North Texas for first place. It remains to be seen how their loss to Western Kentucky on Monday will impact the Herd’s standing, but they’ve also beaten the ‘Toppers at home and own a win at Old Dominion.

This week, we have 26 teams ranked thanks to a tie at No. 25. So congratulations to both Yale and UC Santa Barbara, who do not need to fight over who gets in. They both get the recognition.
