Two of mid-major basketball’s most electric conferences are also, perhaps, the two most under-reported. While schools in the MEAC and SWAC boast devoted fanbases and have plenty of star power, they’re not exactly headlining SportsCenter. Our own Stephen Thompson joins the pod to talk about both conferences as well as the unique circumstances surrounding HBCUs in Division I.
On the pod, we take a dive into what makes Norfolk State so good (Stephen also wrote about this last week) and how tough it is to maintain consistency at the MEAC level. We also talk RJ Cole, Savannah State’s final season in Division I, Hampton’s crazy departure from the MEAC, Prairie View A&M, non-conference scheduling, and more.
