Fairleigh Dickinson and St. Francis PA are the co-regular season Northeast Conference champions and will be the top two seeds in the NEC Tournament which tips off on Wednesday. The Red Flash, winners of nine out of 10, will be the 1 overall seed due to a tiebreaker and are assured to host the title game should they advance that far.
Not that it’ll be easy for St. Francis. The NEC Tournament is known to get weird, and it has already lost to 8 seed Bryant once this year. The Bulldogs will visit Loretto for the quarterfinals while FDU hosts a Wagner team that it split with in the regular season.
Sacred Heart, which earned its best seed in the Anthony Latina Era, is the 3 seed thanks to three straight wins to close the season. Robert Morris is the 4 seed and draws NMTC darling St. Francis Brooklyn.
The four quarterfinal winners will be re-seeded prior to the semifinals, ensuring that the better seeds end up with the easiest road.
