CAA Tournament bracket and schedule: Hofstra takes the top seed with Northeastern close behind

Can the Pride return to the Big Dance for the first time since 2001?

NCAA Basketball: Colonial Athletic Association Tournament-Delaware vs Northeastern Rafael Suanes-USA TODAY Sports

At the CAA Media Days in October of last year, Northeastern was picked to win the conference, followed closely by Charleston, Hofstra, and William & Mary (in that order). Now that all is said and done, it is clear that the top four teams were picked correctly — just in a different order than initially expected.

Indeed, Hofstra surprised many this season with their winning ways, putting together a 16-game win streak that lasted from Nov. 28 to Jan. 26. This streak was owed in large part to the stunning play of Justin Wright-Foreman, whose prolific scoring ability propelled the Pride to a CAA title.

Now, as the conference tournament opening matchups are set, many will be wondering whether Hofstra — with their KenPom top 20 offense — will be able to make their way to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2001.

However, Northeastern has looked incredibly tough all season long, beating teams like Alabama and Harvard while also splitting the season series with Hofstra and Charleston, the defending CAA Tournament Champions.

The outcome of this tournament is anyone’s guess, but the strength of each of the top three contenders will no doubt make this a must-watch event.
