There’s living up to the hype, and then there’s what Ja Morant is currently doing to Marquette.
The Murray State sophomore star is, as of this writing, on triple double watch as the No. 12 seed Racers have opened up a 17-point lead on No. 5 seed Golden Eagles. Two of his points were ripped into the box score on this emphatic dunk on Joey Hauser.

Don’t say we didn’t try to warn about this type of poster potential. If you’re feverishly looking for some reading between the generous NCAA Tournament timeouts, check out Morant feasting on Alabama players during the Racers’ tight loss in Tuscaloosa during the non-conference.

For added context, here’s more on Morant from our own Chris Schutte.
He doesn’t have the hype or publicity of someone like Zion Williamson, but Morant has become appointment viewing in his own right. Each and every game he’s putting up huge numbers and doing it in an exciting fashion. Every night results in a new highlight reel. He’s not quite Westbrook, but Morant is the closest thing to it in college basketball.
If the score holds — hey, the Racers are now up by 18 — we’ll likely get more of these moments before March is out and he’s off to the lottery.
