No one finishes a season quite like C-USA.

College basketball enthusiasts have spent years lamenting the plight of the mid-major, and those complaints get a lot louder once February rolls around.

There aren’t enough at-large bids for mid-majors. Mid-majors don’t have the same resume opportunities as power conference schools. They don’t get the exposure they deserve.

All those complaints are valid and Conference USA has done more than anyone to try and offset them. It starts with bonus play, a unique scheduling format that allows for the top teams in the conference to play each other again in the final weeks of the season. It gives them another shot at Quad 1 or Quad 2 victories that could put a team over the edge and into the NCAA Tournament or NIT — or just improve seeding for the eventual C-USA Tournament champion.

Then, when the C-USA Tournament itself begin, things get a little more fun. The men and women play their tournaments together in the Dallas Cowboys’ practice facility on two courts that sit atop the field. It’s a Champ Week experience unlike any other and a one-of-a-kind fan experience.

Conference USA commissioner Judy MacLeod joined the podcast to discuss bonus play and the conference tournament in a fun discussion that’s sure to get you ready for March.
