We continue our conference previews with the Independents. Every week on Twitter, we have previewed two conferences while streaming live from the Mid-Major Madness account (@mid_madness) speaking with media members and coaches throughout the selected league.

For this one, Happening Hoops’ Ethan Hennessy and our own Nick Lorensen quickly previewed the two new independent programs on a phone call.

Chicago State (0:40) was left out of the WAC’s plans for expansion with FCS centric schools. but is looking to find a new Division-I home. The Cougars had one of the best seasons in their D-I history last season, beating the likes of Cal Baptist and New Mexico State.

The Cougars' schedule has them traveling all over the country. Chicago State will play the likes of Northwestern, Marquette, Murray State, Minnesota, UTRGV, The Citadel, Stanford, Hartford (x2) and Gonzaga.

Hartford (12:05) on the other hand will spend a season as an independent program before moving down to Division III. Per Verbal Commits, the Hawks have only seven scholarship players this season.
