Mid-Major matchups to watch this weekend: Dec. 3 & 4

Lots of In-state rivalries and conference play tipoffs on the docket this weekend

Saturday’s Slate:

No. 25 Ohio State vs. Saint Francis (PA) - noon ET, Big Ten Network

Led by 2021-22 NEC Most Improved Player Josh Cohen, who’s averaging 20.4 PPG, the Red Flash get a shot at the nationally-ranked Buckeyes coming off a tough loss at Duke.

The Citadel vs. Charleston - 1 p.m. ET, FloHoops

In the battle for Charleston, S.C., the 5-3 Bulldogs, who are undefeated at home, will welcome in the 7-1 Cougars as one of the nations top mid-major programs.

Temple vs. VCU - 1 p.m. ET, ESPNU

Fueled by the return of point guard Ace Baldwin, the Rams will travel to Philadelphia for a matchup with an Owls squad coming off of two straight wins. Baldwin vs. Khalif Battle will be the headliner.

Delaware vs. Davidson - 2 p.m. ET, FloHoops

Foster Loyer and the Wildcats will have to manage a feisty Fightin’ Blue Hens team on the road, led by Jameer Nelson Jr. and 2022 CAA Tournament MVP Jyare Davis.

George Mason vs. Toledo - 2 p.m. ET, FloHoops

The 5-2 Rockets are out for back-to-back wins over the Atlantic 10 as they travel to Fairfax, Va., to meet up with the Patriots, who just earned a huge overtime W against Hofstra.

Buffalo vs. St. Bonaventure - 2:30 p.m. ET, ESPN+

We’ve got a battle in Upstate New York as the Bonnies travel to face the Bulls, and both program look to earn a third-consecutive win.

Tulsa vs. Oral Roberts - 3 p.m. ET, ESPN+

Another instate matchup as the two Universities from Tulsa, Okla., meet up with the 2-4 Golden Hurricane looking to bounce back from three-straight losses while hosting the Golden Eagles.

Cleveland State vs. Detriot Mercy - 3 p.m. ET, ESPN+

Horizon League play continues as one of the conference leaders in the Vikings welcome in 2021-22 Horizon League Player of the Year and one of the nation’s highest scorers in Antoine Davis.

Saint Louis vs. Southern Illinois - 4 p.m. ET, ESPN+

One of the top mid-major programs so far this season in the Billikins will play host to a 5-2 Salukis side with a power-5 win on it’s resume already.

Wyoming vs. Grand Canyon - 4 p.m. ET, Mountain West Network

The 6-2 Antelopes will look to continue rolling as they matchup with a struggling Wyoming program that's still trying to find its way following an early season injury to Graham Ike.

No. 11 Arkansas vs. San Jose State - 4 p.m. ET, SEC Network

After starting the season out 6-2 and winning their last two games, the Spartans will look to make it three in a row traveling to Arkansas for nationally ranked matchup with the Razorbacks.

Drake vs. Illinois Chicago - 6 p.m. ET, ESPN+

Missouri Valley Conference play heads into day two as another top mid-major in the Bulldogs looks to bounce back from a 75-73 loss at Indiana State with a win against the 5-3 Flames.

Memphis vs. Ole Miss - 7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN 2

Penny Hardaway and the Tigers look to make it four wins in a row as they matchup with a banged up Rebels squad in Memphis.

Missouri State vs. Bradley - 8 p.m. ET, ESPN+

More exciting action from day two of MVC play as the 4-3 Bears take on the 5-3 Braves.

No. 11 Alabama vs. South Dakota State - 8:30 p.m. ET, ESPN+

Another nationally ranked opponent vs. mid-major matchup as the Jackrabbits, led by sophomore guard Zeke Mayo, head to Tuscaloosa, Ala.

No. 1 Houston vs. Saint Mary’s - 9:30 p.m. ET, ESPN 2

While the Cougars may be ranked No. 1 in the nation, the Gaels are certainly no push over at 6-2. Despite losing back-to-back games, Saint Mary's should be a good mid-major test for Houston.

San Diego vs. UNLV - 10 p.m. ET, WCC Network

The Runnin’ Rebels will have to defend their undefeated crown as they head to the Jenny Craig Pavilion to face a Toreros squad loaded with transfer talent.

Sunday’s Showdowns:

Cincinnati vs. Bryant - noon ET, ESPN+

The 5-3 Bearcats will welcome in Jared Grasoo and the Bulldogs, who have won their last four straight including a dynamic victory on the road at Syracuse, which spells tough matchup for Cincy.

Iona vs. Canisius - 1 p.m. ET, ESPN+

Day two of MAAC basketball tips off with the Golden Griffins heading to New Rochelle, N.Y., to take on last season’s No. 1 seed heading into the conference tournament.

Florida vs. Stetson - 2 p.m. ET, SEC Network

Yet another instate rivalry as the Gators will have to handle a solid mid-major team in the Hatters, who currently sit at 4-2 with a win over another power-5 Florida program in Florida State.

UCF vs. Samford - 2 p.m. ET, ESPN+

After starting the season 6-0, the Bulldogs look to bounce back against one of the American Conferences top squads in UCF. The Knights sit 5-2 with a couple of power-5 wins already on the schedule in the early going.

Quinnipiac vs. Niagara - 3 p.m. ET, ESPN+

The 7-1 Bobcats will kick off their MAAC slate with a battle against the Purple Eagles who’ve been tough competition lately taking down Central Arkansas and Stetson before a tight 78-70 loss at St. John’s.

Northwestern State vs. Southern Miss - 4:30 p.m. ET, ESPN+

A scrappy Demons squad sitting 6-2 with five consecutive wins, including a victory over No. 15 TCU, will look to knock the undefeated crown of the heads of the 8-0 Golden Eagles.

No. 13 Tennessee vs. Alcorn State - 6 p.m. ET, ESPN+

In their third power-5 matchup of the year, the Braves will look to rebound following a few consecutive losses against a raging hot Vols team off to a 6-1 start on the season.

San Francisco vs. Utah State - 8:30 p.m ET, WCC Network

We’ve got a clash of mid-major powerhouses on the west coast as the 7-1 Dons welcome in the undefeated Aggies for a top-tier matchup to finish out the weekend.
