Almost the entire top 10 in this week’s Other Top 25 remained the same except for Kent State, who jumped from No. 21 to eighth.

The Flashes have won eight straight games, and at 4-0 in MAC play, they are off to their best start in the conference since 2004-05.

Kent State comes in at 38th in the NET ranking and No. 69 in KenPom. It knocked off Toledo and Ohio this past week.

The Flashes defeated the Rockets 75-63 Tuesday night. They outscored the visitors by 15 in the second half. Miryne Thomas, who was named MAC Player of the Week, notched season highs with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Malique Jacobs contributed 16 points and 13 rebounds, and Sincere Carry poured in 21.

In the five-point win at the Bobcats Friday, Thomas and Jacobs netted 17 points apiece. Thomas just missed a double-double as he also pulled down nine rebounds and four steals. Jacobs distributed six assists as well.

The Golden Flashes sit at 14-3 on the season. Their three defeats came at the hands of Charleston, Houston and Gonzaga. Each of these defeats was by seven or few points.

Each of those three teams held steady in the top five with Houston at No. 1, Gonzaga second and Charleston at No. 5. Saint Mary’s and San Diego State rounded out the top five at three and four, respectively.

Behind Kent State’s rise of 13 spots, Boise State and Marshall saw the next biggest jump as they each rose seven spots. The Broncos came in at No. 7, and the Thundering Herd were 18th.

Boise State stands at 14-4 as well as 4-1 in the loaded Mountain West. Marshall sits at 15-4 overall and is tied for first in the Sun Belt at 4-2.

There were three newcomers in the Other Top 25 this week: San Francisco, Drake and BYU. They replaced Iona, UNC Wilmington and Liberty.
