According to an official release from Fordham University, Tom Pecora will no longer be the head basketball coach.
He had two years remaining on a contract extension that he signed following the 2011-12 season, when he went 10-19.
In five seasons in charge of the Rams, Pecora went 44-106, and 13-69 in the Atlantic 10. The most games the Rams won in conference during that span happened this season as Fordham went 4-14 in the league. They were bounced in the second round of the conference tournament by VCU.
In the official release, Pecora was dinged not only for his record at the school, but his ability to retain student athletes in the program, a number that dipped to 50 percent.
Pecorda came to the school in 2010 after having modest success at Hofstra during nine seasons as head coach. He led the Pride to three straight NIT appearances from 2005-2007, but never managed to make the NCAA Tournament.
Fordham will hire a search firm to help conduct its nationwide search for its next basketball coach.
