Charleston Southern's Saah Nimley and Arlon Harper Both Injured in 88-85 Loss to Longwood

It was not a good night for the Charleston Southern Buccaneers, not only did they lose a heart-breaker to Longwood but both of the Bucs' star guards went down with injuries.

Charleston Southern has quite lived up to their preseason billing of Big South favorites. The Bucs have been unable to put together consecutive wins in conference and now stand 9-10 on the year and 3-3 in the conference. Things went from bad to worse yesterday in North Charleston when the Bucs fell 88-85 to Longwood and saw both of their star guards go down.

Barclay Radebaugh will tell you that what makes his Buccaneers so special is the junior combo of Saah Nimley and Arlon Harper, both of which were named preseason Big South First Teamers. Harper went down late in the first half Saturday in exchange under the bucket on the Bucs' defensive end. He had to crawl off the court to avoid getting trampled and then went straight to the locker room with the help of Bucs' medical staff. Harper would not return and sat at the end of the bench in the second half with his leg elevated and his ankle iced.

It got even worse in the second half when Saah Nimley left the game with what looked to be cramps, as he was walking around behind the bench. Nimley returned to the game for about 30 seconds but couldn't play, he then sat out the rest of the second half.

Charleston Southern is slated to visit Buies Creek for a game against Campbell on Wednesday. When asked about the status of Nimley and Harper after the game Radebaugh said, "Don't know right now. They looked serious but we'll find out if they can play later." (via Post and Courier)
