The College Slam Dunk Contest is next Thursday just outside of Houston as part of the Final Four festivities in the area.  Yesterday, the second mid-major participant was announced for the event:

Shaquille Johnson joins fellow SEC transfer and mid-major high flyer Deuce Bello from East Tennessee State.

Johnson averaged 11.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 4.5 assists during his senior year for the Lancers. Last year he was a member of the Big South's All-Tournament Team after Longwood knocked off top-seeded Charleston Southern.

Next Thursday's dunk and three point contests will begin at 9 PM eastern standard time and will be carried on ESPN.  Half of the dunk field has already been put together including Johnson, Bello and non-Division I "Dark Horse" dunkers Yunio Barruetta from Barry University and Devan Douglass from the University of Mary.
