CollegeInsider.com has released the initial Mid-Major Top 25 poll and the Creighton Bluejays are the resounding leaders. Creighton scored 25 of the 31 first place votes, and 764 total points, in the poll that includes teams from all the conferences save the Big 6, Atlantic 10, Mountain West and Conference USA.
Gonzaga earned four first place votes and 709 points, good enough for second place. Murray State received the other two first place votes and is third in the initial poll with 685 points.
Drexel (619 points) and Ohio (569 points) fill out the top five.
The poll is voted on by head coaches from the leagues that are eligible to be ranked. Seventy teams received votes in the initial preseason poll.
