A day after Charleston President Glenn McConnell decided to release Doug Wojcik as the school's basketball coach, the Cougars team released a joint statement on the decision released by the CofC media relations department:
"These past few weeks have been difficult for us, yet in many ways it has brought us closer together as a team. The uncertainty of the outcome of the investigation, as well as seeing our confidential testimonies suddenly exposed for the world to see, has been unsettling to say the least."
"We would like to thank our families, our fans, members of the Cougar Club and the administration at the College of Charleston for their unwavering support during this horrendous situation. There have been many half-truths and misinformation that have surfaced during the investigation. We know, and our coaches know, what really happened over the last two seasons, and we as players did our best to report that information truthfully and accurately to the appropriate people."
"We completely and wholeheartedly concur with the findings in the investigation and the actions President McConnell has taken in this matter."
"None of us will be making any individual comments to the media on the situations we endured."
"We forgive Coach Wojcik and hope that he and his family can move forward in a positive manner from here."
"We are looking forward to putting this behind us and getting back to what we are here to do in the first place - get an excellent college education and reach our full potential as athletes and as a team on the basketball court."
