Mid-Majors Well Represented On 5/27 CBSSports Top 150 2016 NBA Draft Board

Sam Vecenie recently released his updated 2016 NBA Draft board and the mid-majors found themselves well represented. In total, five players appeared in Draft range, highlighted by Domantas Sabonis, DeAndre' Bembry, Kay Felder, Pascal Siakam, and Fred VanVleet who were all in the top 60 players. Realistically, it wouldn't be surprising to see more than five mid-major players selected on Draft night.

Two Mid-Major Teams Make Yahoo's 2016-17 Top 20 Rankings

Yahoo has updated its set of top 20 rankings for the 2016-17 season and a total of two mid-major teams were fortunate enough to make the cut. These teams were (listed by ranking): No. 14 Gonzaga and No. 19 Rhode Island. Although just Gonzaga made the NCAA Tournament last season, both teams and several other mid-majors are set for huge 2016-17 seasons.

ESPN Summer Bracketology Update

With the NBA Draft field settled, ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi has released an update to his offseason tournament projection. In his update, the Atlantic 10 (3) and West Coast Conference (2) are the two mid-majors to receive multiple bids. For the WCC, that includes Gonzaga as a 5 seed and St. Mary's as a 7 seed. The A-10's three schools (Dayton, VCU and Rhode Island) are also single-digit seeds.

Guard Brandon Kamga Transfers From Northeastern Huskiers

According to multiple reports, freshman guard Brandon Kamga has transferred from Northeastern. He is originally out of Reston, Virginia and had mixed contributions this season. Kamga played in 15 games and averaged 6.7 minutes and 3.0 points per game this season. With him off the roster, Northeastern will have to hope incoming prospect Maxime Boursiquot can make an impact down the line. Northeastern had an overall record of 18-15 this season.

Forward Saren Westrop Transfers From Iona Gaels

According to multiple reports, freshman forward Saren Westrop has transferred from Iona. He is originally out of Lethbridge, Canada and only saw limited action this season. Overall, Westrop played in just 14 games and 24 minutes all season. Now, with him leaving the program, Iona will have to hope that incoming additions like Jamel Allen can make an impact down the line. This season, Iona went 22-11 overall.

Detroit Parts Ways with Ray McCallum

Detroit Mercy announced today that they have let Ray McCallum go as head coach. McCallum took the Titans to the NCAA Tournament in 2012 and leaves with 130-132 record.

Guard Lavar Harewood To Transfer From Maine Black Bears

According to multiple reports, freshman guard Lavar Harewood will transfer from Maine. He is originally out of Brooklyn, New York and played at Brooks School. Harewood only averaged 14.4 minutes per game this season and averaged 5.1 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game. He was one of the few freshmen in Maine's backcourt this season, which will put a lot of pressure on the returning guards. Maine went 8-22 overall this season.
