And UNLV was supposed to start fresh with Larry Brown? Please. Hiring Brown would've been just as silly as hiring Bob Knight -- another 70-year-old legend who reportedly was interested in the job. Brown and Knight are brilliant basketball minds, no question; if they ever hold a coaching clinic, I'd advise attending. But Brown lacks the stability to be successful at the high-major level, and Knight lacks the energy.

Gary Parrish: Congrats to UNLV for avoiding trap of Brown or Knight

[Kawhi] Leonard has yet to declare for the NBA draft as an underclassman or formally hire an agent that would negate his remaining two seasons of collegiate eligibility, but [Malcolm] Thomas considers both a mere formality. "I think he’s leaving," Thomas said, "for sure."

As Fredette, the scoring sensation from Glens Falls, N.Y., gets ready for BYU's Southeast Regional showdown against Florida on Thursday night, opinions vary widely on how he projects as a pro. Plenty of NBA scouts and personnel men will be on hand in New Orleans, curious to see if Fredette's offensive arsenal is enough to shoot BYU into the Final Four. If it is, some executives say, the performance might be enough to propel Fredette into the mid-to-high lottery in this June's NBA Draft.

In every game that he's played, everybody's trying to stop him, everybody's trying to slow him down and he still gets 33 a game, he still averages 28 a game, he still does it regardless," Donovan said. "I'm not comparing him to Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant, but I did make the comment a year ago that I thought Fredette had more of an impact in a college game than John Wall did. ... When you're dealing with a guy like that, there's a lot of times that you are at his mercy because he's got the ball in his hands.
