The Illinois-Chicago Flames moved quickly in finding a replacement for former head coach Howard Moore. The Flames are set to hire current Indiana assistant and former Wyoming head coach Steve McClain.
An official press conference and announcement is expected from the school early next week.
McClain, 52, has spent the last five seasons under Tom Crean at Indiana. Before his time in Bloomington, McClain spent nine seasons at Wyoming lead the Cowboys to a 157-115 overall mark and an NCAA appearance and upset over Gonzaga in 2002.
UIC has had just one winning season over the past six seasons and hasn't had an above .500 season in the Horizon League since 2004 when Jimmy Collins last lead the Flames to the NCAA Tournament. The Flames went 10-24 this past year and just 4-12 in the Horizon League. McClain is thought to bring an uptempo style to the UIC Pavilion.
