The move should come as no surprise to anyone who has followed the Missouri Valley over the last few seasons. When Illinois State dominated Bradley late in the season, it seemed almost like it would happen the next day.
Ford compiled a record of 46-86 in his four seasons in Peoria, and a 19-53 mark in conference play. His best season came in 2012-13 when the Braves went 18-17 and finished 7-11 in the Valley. That was still only good enough to tie for 7th in the league.
The biggest problem for Ford might have been his paycheck which was estimated between $500,000 and $600,000. The record just wasn't there to support although the pedigree was. Ford was the two time MAC Coach of the Year while at Kent State, and while he never made the NCAA Tournament, the Golden Flashes won the regular season title in both of those seasons.
