SIU-Edwardsville has decided to move on from eighth year head coach Lennox Forrestor. The Cougars are coming off a 12-16 year and have still have yet to have a winning season since beginning a Division I schedule in 2008.
SIUE athletic director Brad Hewitt released as statement about the move:
"This was a difficult decision, coming after a thorough and thoughtful evaluation of the past eight years of work," Hewitt said. "I would like to thank Coach Forrester for his dedicated service to SIUE and his leadership in developing young men of character. These student-athletes have represented the University and the men's basketball program in a positive manner.
"Ultimately, our won-loss record and program support are not where we believe it should be."
This past season was the first that Cougars have at least had an .500 mark in their four years of OVC play. Forrestor, a former Evansville and Bradley assistant, leaves with a 82-146 career record as the head coach. Forrestor lead the Cougars into their Division I transition.
