Marcel Pettway started this week with the same form as when he ended the last week. His 26 points against Central Connecticut State helped to earn him the Mid-Major Madness Freshman of the Week award.
Of course he would do it again. Pettway scored 26 points Monday night against Fairleigh Dickinson, going 9-for-10 from the floor and making 8 of 12 foul shots in an 85-80 win. He would add 11 rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block in the victory.
Three days later against Wagner, Pettway didn't have as good of a night on the offensive end, but contributed on the defensive end with nine rebounds, three blocks and two steals. Bryant would lose 65-56 for its first conference defeat.
Pettway came back well against Mount St. Mary's on Saturday. He finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and two assists. The Bulldogs would win 82-79 in two overtimes to move to 3-1 in the Northeast Conference, part of a five-way tie for first place.
For his sustained performance again this week, Marcel Pettway is our repeat winner of the Mid-Major Madness Freshman of the Week.
