Mid-Major Madness Player of the Week: Juan'ya Green, Hofstra Pride

Juan'ya Green has Hofstra flying high in the CAA, especially after his strong week against Northeastern and UNCW.

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

When Joe Mihalich took over at Hofstra, he had quite the job ahead of him. But he made that job a lot easier by convincing Juan'ya Green to come to Long Island after transferring from Niagara.

Green has helped turned the Pride back into a contender in the Colonial, and this season, they are right in the hunt at 6-2 in the league, tied with James Madison and UNCW.

The performance that Green turned in this week also has a lot to do with their place in the league.

The Pride began the week with a three overtime win over Northeastern. In that contest, Green scored 23 points, and was 3-for-7 from 3-point range. He added 14 assists and four rebounds, while committing just three turnovers in 55 minutes on the floor. Those assists helped contribute to his top assist rate in the CAA, while playing the most minutes of any player in the league.

He then followed that night with an amazing shooting performance against William & Mary. Green went 10-for-17 from the floor, including 6-for-9 from 3-point range. He added eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals in the win, and didn't commit a single turnover.

For his impressive back-to-back performance, Juan'ya Green is our Mid-Major Madness Player of the Week
