Mid-Major Madness Freshman of the Week: Jarren Greenwood, McNeese State Cowboys

Jarren Greenwood was a bright spot for McNeese State during a tough week in the Southland.

The McNeese State Cowboys had a tough week, dropping games to Southeastern Louisiana and Nicholls State, two teams that help fill out the bottom of the Southland Conference.

But there was a bright spot for the Cowboys, and that was the performance of freshman Jarren Greenwood.

Against Southeastern Louisiana, Greenwood almost was able to carry the Cowboys to the win. He scored 28 points, and was a perfect 5-for-5 from 3-point range. That went along with four assists, three rebounds and two steals, but McNeese State came up just short, losing 82-80.

He followed that with a solid performance against Nicholls State on Saturday, when all of the Cowboys had difficulty scoring. Greenwood ended with 13 points, four rebounds, and three steals in a 71-56 loss where McNeese State shot just 31.7 percent from the field and were 6-for-26 from 3-point range.

For his performances this week, Jarren Greenwood is our Mid-Major Madness Freshman of the Week.

Also considered: Matt Morgan, Cornell.
