According to multiple reports, sophomore Mike Bethea, Jr. has opted to transfer from Grambling State. Overall, Bethea played in 31 games and averaged 5.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.8 steals per game and was a key contributor on the wing this season. Without Bethea in the lineup, Grambling State will have to hope that players like Deonte Hearns and Carlton Lowe can make up for his loss. Grambling State went 6-24 overall last season.

According to multiple reports, 2016 prospect Marcel Thompson has committed to Grambling State. He comes out of White Marsh, Maryland and plays at Coastal Academy. Thompson is listed at 6-4 and 195 lbs and also had attention from Colgate, Delaware State, Loyola (MD), and Princeton among others. He is the lone commitment in Grambling State's 2016 recruiting class. Grambling State went just 6-24 overall last season.

According to a report from Alex Kline, Alcorn State has picked up a commitment from 2016 prospect Yalen Reed. He comes out of Gallatin, Tennessee and plays at Station Camp High School. Reed is listed at 6'5" and is now one of four commitments currently in Alcorn State's recruiting class. Alcorn State opened this season at 8-11 overall and is currently relying on several seniors upfront.

The Delta Devils recently picked up a commitment from 2015 prospect Jevon Smith. He comes out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and played at the Combine Academy. Smith is listed at 6'5 and also had attention from Kent State. He is set to join a rather deep backcourt and wing group competing with several JUCO prospects and a decent amount of depth. Last season, Mississippi Valley State went 6-26 overall.

The Tigers recently received some exciting news as JUCO prospect Averyl Ugba has signed to join the program. He is originally from Silver Spring, Maryland and played at Richard Bland junior college. Ugba is listed at 6'7" and 225 lbs and is part of a rather large junior class for Grambling State featuring several JUCO prospects in the frontcourt.

Former Texas Southern guard Giovannia Mack recently transferred out of the program and has found his landing spot with UNC Pembroke. During his time with the Tigers, Mack played in a total of 24 games averaging 9.3 minutes, 1.8 points, 0.9 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game. Last season, Texas Southern went 22-13 overall and lost to Arizona in the Round of 64 in the NCAA Tournament.
